EMBOLC
What is EMBOLC?
Embolc is one of four Celtic fire festivals. It is the celebration of the return of light after the dark winter. It is celebrated on February 2nd and makes the rest of the winter seem shorter. It celebrates the light that brightens our thoughts in the middle of the cold and dark.
Embolc means ‘in the stomach’ and refers to the stomach of Mother Earth where new buds are nurtured and strengthened to break through the cold and frozen earth with the promise of spring.
